This type of medical activity, just like therapeutic dentistry, deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that are directly related to teeth, dental tissues, and oral mucosa of teeth. Its function includes the development of new medical, prophylactic, and diagnostic methods, and the identification of links between internal organ diseases and dental diseases.

Therapeutic dentistry has the following tasks:

• Detection, prevention, and treatment of tooth decay
• Restoration of damaged teeth by fillings with modern materials  
• The endodontic treatment, which is the treatment of tissues in root canals and teeth cavities
• Identification, prevention, and treatment of dental diseases that occur without caries
• Treatment of oral mucosal diseases
• Identification, prevention, and treatment of diseases in teeth tissues (including periodontal)
