TUMMY TUCK (ABDOMINOPLASTY)

What is Abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is one of the treatment methods applied to individuals with excess fat, excess skin, sagging, and similar problems in the abdominal region. Loose or sagging tissues in the abdominal area can be seen in men, but they are mostly seen in women in the post-pregnancy period and smoothed by removing the excess fat and skin in abdominoplasty surgeries. In this way, the abdominal area is flattened and tightened, and especially the cracks below the navel are eliminated.

How is Abdominoplasty Surgery Performed?

Abdominoplasty surgery may take 2-5 hours depending on the procedure. An incision line is often made in the area under the abdomen, 8-10 cm below the navel, which can often be hidden beneath the underwear. This incision can be thought of as a little longer than the cesarean scar. A second incision is made around the belly to transfer the navel. After the operation is over, the incision line is closed under the skin with hidden stitches and covered with dressings.

One or two tubes called drains are placed to extract the excess liquid that accumulates in the area. A urinary catheter is usually inserted during the operation to be used on the first day. When the patient stands up, the urinary catheter is removed. A suitable corset is worn to the patient in the operating room immediately after the operation.
